Compact Power For Wide Input Systems

Designing power circuits for wide input and tight space is hard. This solution can simplify voltage control, heat handling, and system safety.

Design engineers working on industrial control, energy systems, building automation, and high-voltage DC applications often struggle to design compact, reliable power stages that can handle wide input voltage ranges while meeting efficiency, thermal, and EMC limits. Space is limited, thermal margins are tight, and external protection and filtering add design time and risk.

RECOM has developed a compact non-isolated buck regulator module that delivers fully regulated 0.5A output at fixed voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, or 24VDC from input voltages up to 115VDC. With efficiency reaching 90% and a thermally enhanced package, the module operates at full load up to 100°C, with controlled derating up to 120°C, reducing the need for external cooling and complex thermal design.

The module integrates key system features such as output trimming, sequencing, on/off control, and power-good signals, helping engineers simplify system control, startup behavior, and monitoring. Built-in over-temperature, over-current, and short-circuit protection reduce design risk and improve system reliability in harsh environments.

For applications with strict EMC limits and space constraints, the device is housed in a compact 12.19 × 12.19 × 3.75 mm DOSA-compatible LGA package with six-sided shielding. This design supports strong EMC performance and efficient heat dissipation. With a simple external filter, it meets EN 55032 Class B conducted emission standards, easing compliance in industrial and commercial products.
