Two new entry-level Bluetooth Low Energy SoCs from Nordic Semiconductor target simple wireless products such as sensors, tags, beacons, remotes, and PC peripherals. The devices — nRF54LS05A and nRF54LS05B — can work either as the main wireless chip in a single-chip system or as a Bluetooth LE companion device in multi-chip designs.

The two chips are designed to provide a basic and cost-focused entry point to the company’s nRF54L Series platform. They include Bluetooth LE connectivity, low-power operation, and the same software stack used across the series. This stack is widely used by developers and supports reliable communication and interoperability across Bluetooth devices.

Both SoCs run a 128 MHz Arm Cortex‑M33 processor and use low-leakage RAM to support efficient processing in compact wireless systems. They also include the company’s fourth-generation Bluetooth LE radio and baseline security features. Pin-to-pin compatibility with other devices in the series allows developers to scale designs more easily.

Each device includes 0.5 MB of non-volatile memory. The main difference between the two lies in RAM size. The nRF54LS05A provides 64 KB of RAM, while the nRF54LS05B offers 96 KB for applications that require more memory.

Development support comes through the nRF Connect SDK, including its Bare Metal option. Developers can also move existing designs from the nRF52 Series to the newer architecture with a defined migration path. The broader ecosystem includes documentation, development tools, and training resources.

For connected products, the company also offers nRF Cloud services for firmware updates and device management. The platform integrates with the SDK and supports deployment of large numbers of devices.

The two chips form part of the wider nRF54L Series, the company’s next generation of ultra-low-power multiprotocol SoCs. The platform includes a 2.4 GHz radio and supports wireless standards such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Matter, Thread, and Zigbee. With different memory options and interface support, the series allows multiple types of products to be built on the same architecture.
