NOVOSENSE Microelectronics has announced the release of the NSE34xxx and NSE35xxx series high-side switches, designed to drive various load types such as resistive, inductive, and halogen lamps in automotive systems like Body Control Modules (BCMs). They are also well-suited for managing large capacitive loads commonly found in the power distribution of Zonal Control Units (ZCUs). These switches are available in 1, 2, or 4-channel configurations and come in HSSOP-16 or HSSOP-14 packages, with Rds(on) values ranging from 8mΩ to 140mΩ. They feature accurate current sensing for real-time load monitoring and fault diagnosis.

To ensure safe and reliable operation, the series includes comprehensive protection features such as overcurrent, short-circuit, overtemperature, overvoltage, ground and power loss, reverse polarity, and open-load detection. Both the NSE34xxx and NSE35xxx series are AEC-Q100 qualified and meet AEC-Q100-012 level A standards, offering durability with over one million cycles of short-circuit and overcurrent protection. These high-side switches are ideally suited for use in BCMs and ZCUs in modern automotive architectures.

Some of the key features of the NSE34xxx and NSE35xxx include:

  • AEC-Q100 qualified
  • Operating temperature range: -40°C – 125°C
  • Accurate current sensing: +/-25% at 200mA load
  • Overvoltage clamping, and supporting inductive loads
  • Overcurrent protection
  • Overtemperature protection: absolute overtemperature protection, relative overtemperature protection
  • Diagnostic output: Open circuit detection, short circuit detection, and overtemperature detection
  • AEC-Q100-012 Level A certification

The high-side switch series is designed to drive resistive, inductive, halogen, and capacitive loads in automotive Body Control Modules (BCMs) and Zonal Control Units (ZCUs). Offered in 1-, 2-, or 4-channel versions with HSSOP-14 or HSSOP-16 packaging and Rds(on) values ranging from 8 to 140 mΩ, the series features accurate current sensing for diagnostics and monitoring, built-in protection functions, and AEC-Q100-012 Grade A certification for over one million protection cycles.
