To solve these complexities, KEYENCE has introduced the new IM X Instant Measurement System, designed to make dimensional inspection fast, simple, and highly accurate. The system builds on the familiar place and press concept, allowing users to perform instant measurements without fixturing or complicated programming. Parts can simply be placed anywhere on the stage and measured at the press of a button.
The system significantly expands measurement capability, allowing up to 5000 dimensions to be captured in a single measurement cycle, compared to around 300 with previous generations. An extra large stage, measuring up to 500 mm, enables inspection of large components or multiple parts simultaneously while reducing inspection time even further. Measurements can be completed in as little as 1 second, delivering clear OK or NG results instantly.
Accuracy is supported through a combination of advanced technologies, including a touch probe and a multi colour laser for precise height and three dimensional measurements. Smart Assist automation handles focus, lighting, and edge detection automatically, ensuring stable and repeatable results even for first time users. The system also supports automatic drawing import from CAD files, PDFs, and even scanned paper drawings reducing program creation time.
