Aeva has introduced Omni, a short-range 4D LiDAR sensor for physical AI systems that need awareness in close spaces. Omni provides a 360-degree horizontal and 90-degree vertical field of view for near-field detection. It detects objects up to 80 meters and provides per-point velocity data with position. This allows systems to track where an object is and how fast it is moving. The sensor comes in an 85 mm form factor for integration into vehicles and machines.

The system uses Aeva’s FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) technology. It measures velocity and distance at the same time. It resists interference from sunlight and other LiDAR units. It also reduces blooming or ghosting around reflective objects such as street signs, lane markings, and safety vests.

Omni is built for environments where people, vehicles, and equipment move. By combining field of view with velocity sensing, it reduces blind spots and supports path planning and decision-making in automated systems.

The sensor meets IP68 and IP69K standards. It operates in rain, dust, fog, and wash-down conditions. It can be used in warehouses, industrial sites, robotics, defense systems, drones, smart infrastructure, and autonomous vehicles.

Omni was developed with LG Innotek, which handles hardware integration, manufacturing, and quality control. It extends Aeva’s LiDAR-on-Chip platform with a short-range option alongside its long-range automotive products.

“Aeva Omni extends the reach of our chip-based FMCW perception platform into a class of applications where wide-view awareness and reliable 360-degree near range performance in a compact form factor are essential,” said Mina Rezk, Co-Founder and CTO at Aeva. “From autonomous mobile robots and vehicles, to drones and unmanned ground vehicles, and next-generation smart infrastructure, Omni provides a new level of safety and capability by delivering high-resolution perception across an exceptionally wide field of view.”
